![]() Life·Line™ Portable Monitoring Console |
The Monitoring Console serves as the data storage medium and status display center for all information related to each PSM checked out by a worker. The System checks on each worker at regular intervals by sending a “check-in request” tone through their individual PSM until the worker responds by pressing an acknowledge (Query) button. |
| If the worker fails to respond within a facility-defined period of time (based on the hazard of the environment), an alarm automatically activates and the System’s computer monitor immediately displays the worker’s location, status, and all other information necessary for a quick rescue. This alarm can also be activated at any time by a worker pressing an emergency alarm switch (“Help”) on the PSM. When the PSM initiates an alarm, the Monitoring Console’s display screen flashes the emergency identifier, showing location and identity of the entrant. System audible and visual alarm signals alert the console attendant. A System Manager (attendant), may control an emergency voice channel to selectively communicate with any worker logged onto the System. Once an alarm has been triggered, the attendant can determine whether an emergency exists and communicate with the distressed worker while help is on the way.

| Where an individual is seen entering a restricted area without a PSM or other necessary safety equipment, a worker can press the (“Help”) or (“Voice”) switch to inform the attendant and/or supervisor (who also carry PSM or other voice radio) of the safety violation. The attendant can also initiate voice communications between two or more workers or locations in an emergency situation. | |||
